A limited-edition neighborhood shirt inspired by the history, landmarks, personality, and changing culture of Plaza Midwood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Each part of the artwork represents a different piece of the neighborhood's story.
Social District cup
Plaza Midwood is home to Charlotte's first social district. The cup at the center of the design nods to the walkability, nightlife, and connection between locally owned businesses that define the neighborhood today.
The Plaza & Central Avenue
The street signs mark one of Plaza Midwood's most recognizable intersections. They anchor a streetcar suburb that started taking shape in the early 1900s and still shape the neighborhood's identity.
Penguin with a suitcase
A playful reference to the original Penguin Drive-In, which opened in Plaza Midwood in 1954. The original location is gone, but the Penguin is still part of the neighborhood's collective memory.
The Thirsty Beaver
The silhouette of the small neighborhood bar that famously stayed. It's one of the most recognizable landmarks in Plaza Midwood and a symbol of the places that didn't move on.
Dogwoods & brickwork
Small details woven through the illustration: the texture of older bungalows, brick facades, and the dogwoods that show up every spring on side streets.
